Jueves - Sonata Arctica

Que rapido es jueves!... y pensar que el tiempo vuela cuando te diviertes!... Hoy jueves le toca a Sonata Arctica... y bueno...creo me dejo de rodeos y comenzare!

Sonata Arctica es una banda finlandesa de Power Metal Melódico proveniente de la ciudad de Kemi y formada en 1996 bajo el nombre Tricky Beans, que después cambió a Tricky Means, y finalmente a Sonata Arctica en 1999. Sonata Arctica ha recibido la influencia de bandas como Stratovarius, Helloween, Nightwish (cuando tarja aun estaba con ellos), Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Metallica, Queen, entre otras citadas por el grupo en diversas entrevistas

Inicios (1996-1998)
Sonata Arctica fue fundada bajo el nombre de Tricky Beans y en sus inicios tocaban canciones fuertemente influidas por el género hard rock, las cuales no tenían mucho que ver con su actual estilo, el Power Metal. Al principio de su carrera, grabaron tres demos que nunca fueron enviados a ningún sello discográfico - Friend 'till The End, Agre Pamppers y PeaceMaker .

Ecliptica (1999-2000)
En 1999, la banda grabó una demo titulado FullMoon, compuesto por Tony Kakko, el guitarrista Jani Liimatainen, el bajista Janne Kivilahti y el batería Tommy Portimo. La demo fue enviada al sello Spinefarm y la banda cambió definitivamente su nombre a Sonata Arctica. Un contrato de grabación llegó poco después.
Más tarde ese mismo año fue lanzado en Finlandia el primer single del grupo, titulado UnOpened, el cual provocó un gran impacto, entrando en los 20 más vendidos en su primera semana tras salir a la venta. Debido a este éxito inicial, pronto la banda había cerrado varios contratos con sellos alrededor del mundo, con vistas al lanzamiento de su álbum debut. El disco fue llamado Ecliptica y posteriormente lanzado a nivel mundial a fines de 1999, obteniendo buenas críticas por parte de la prensa especializada. Por todo esto, Tony Kakko decidió concentrarse en el canto y comenzó a buscar un nuevo integrante para la banda: Mikko Harkin (antes en Kenziner), fue invitado y seleccionado para tocar el teclado.
A principios del 2000, Sonata Arctica fue elegida para telonear a los ya consagrados Stratovarius a lo largo de su gira por Europa junto con Rhapsody. Janne Kivilahti se salió de la banda y fue reemplazado por Marko Paasikoski, uno de los fundadores de "Tricky Beans".

Silence y Winterheart's Guild (2001-2003)
Desde finales del 2000 hasta el 2001, la banda trabajó en la composición y grabación de su siguiente disco, Silence, lanzado finalmente en junio de 2001. Un extenso tour lo siguió, realizando una serie de conciertos a través de toda Europa (junto con Gamma Ray) y Japón. En el 2002 Sonata Arctica hizo su primera incursión en América, actuando en Brasil y Chile. En esta gira, por una lesión, Jani fue reemplazado por el guitarrista argentino Martín Lacrouts. De acuerdo a lo expresado posteriormente por alguno de los músicos de la banda, ésa fue una de sus mejores giras hasta la fecha - siendo la otra la gira en Japón en el 2003-. Además, el álbum en directo titulado Songs Of Silence fue lanzado justo después ese mismo año.

Unia (2007-2008)
Un nuevo disco, titulado Unia, fue lanzado el 25 de mayo de 2007; su single promocional fue Paid in Full, el cual fue lanzando unos meses antes. Este disco cuenta con unas guitarras más agresivas, mayor proliferación de teclados aunque con menor protagonismo en la partes instrumentales. Constantes juegos vocales, donde hay muchos toques operísticos, apuntando a un toque progresivo del power metal.

El disco ha generado diversas reacciones entre los fans del grupo, entre quienes creen que Unia es el trabajo menos logrado de la banda, y quienes opinan que se encuentra entre los mejores, sino el mejor de sus trabajos.

The Days Of Grays (2009)
Después de una intensa gira mundial donde se promocionó el disco Unia y una aparición en el festival de Heavy Metal "Wacken Open Air" en Alemania, la banda regresó a Finlandia para trabajar en su nueva producción discográfica, que sería el primer álbum de estudio sin Jani Liimatainen a cargo de las guitarras, siendo así el primero con Elias Viljanen en el conjunto.
Día 9 de julio de 2009, se anuncia, en su página oficial, la salida del sexto álbum de estudio titulado The Days Of Grays,2 con fechas de emisión el 16 de septiembre en Finlandia, el 22 de septiembre en Estados Unidos y el 18 de septiembre, vía Nuclear Blast, para Europa y el resto del mundo (excluyendo Asia). Se realiza un concurso el 22 de julio para el single promocional Flag in the Ground, que consiste en realizar el arte de la portada de dicho single,3 cuyo ganador fue anunciado a través del MySpace oficial de la banda.

Como los conoci:

Con anterioridad los habia escuchado ser nombrados, pero nunca me di a la tarea de buscarles por ningun medio... fue hasta que buscando en youtube di con una cancion significativa "Still Lovin' You -  Sonata Arctica" esa cancion que me habia gustado tanto con Scorpions... la transmutaron al puro estilo del power metal... que tanto me gusta... inmediatamente... me puse a buscar su discografia aver si de pura casualidad encontraba algun disco... apartir de esa cancion...fui encontrando otras que... me transmitian cierto sentimiento... canciones nuevas para cada etapa de mi vida... como lo estan.. "Shy, Wolf And Raven, FullMoon, San Sebastian, Replica, Kindom For A Heart, I Wan't Out (Cover De Helloween), In The Dark, Paid In Full, Broken..." estan en orden como fueron apareciendo en mi vida y sin dudarlo... nunca me arrepentire de escucharlas... de cantarlas... de gozarlas...
